Taigashield map (3)

The taiga shield location.

For the other Taiga Shield article, see Taiga Shield

"The Taiga Shield Ecozone stretches across part of Canada's subarctic north. The Russian term "taiga" refers to the northern edge of the boreal coniferous forest. This is the Athapaskan "land of little sticks" that stretches from Labrador to Alaska and from Siberia to Scandinavia. In northern Canada, much of this forest rests on the Canadian Shield, the bedrock heart of the continent. With an area of over 1.3 million square kilometres, the Taiga Shield is one of Canada's largest ecozones. One-third of it lies in the Northwest Territories."(Wikipedia)

Climate.Edit

"This ecozone has short summers with long days and cold, long winters with long nights. Average annual temperatures are just below freezing, and mean summer temperatures are at most 11ºC. Precipitation ranges from 200mm a year in the west to 1000mm on the Labrador coast."(Taiga shield)

Animals and mammalsEdit

About fifty species of mammals are found in the Taiga Shield, including the large herbivores Caribou,  and moose.Wolves and bears and the lynx are the larger predators. Smaller predators include the coyote, fox, rodents, wolverine, and many others and I'm just to lazy to type,
